Of course there's hula guys! Hula is the theatre/ballet/festival for island cultures, always has been. The term simply got fastened to the dances with the ladies in the grass skirts because that's what tourists paid attention to most. But there have always been entire productions of dance in the islands, they just never became as noteworthy in the reast of the world.
