Tom "The Gassman" Sneeva's ride for his only win. He was the fastest most of the day. There was a bit of controversy in the race. Al Unser Jr (in his rookie year) was blocking for his his faster, Al Unser Sr, in a bid for a 4th Indy 500. Big all would indeed win a 4th, only the 2nd to do so after AJ Foyt, in 1987.
