ARTIST SPEAKING:
In the creation of the character of F.L. Gwynne, I thought of a creature who could facilitate a variety of inflation-based gags without being changed himself. What better way to facilitate such matters than directly. Who needs a tank or an air compressor when you ARE an air compressor? Of course, such a strange creature could not exist in nature (well, it could, just not in MY nature), so I thought of him being a lab-engineered creature, a Genetically-Engineered Life Form -- a GELF.
Of course, any Red Dwarf fan would know about the GELFs. He's based semi-directly off the concept of the GELFs from the RD novel "Better Than Life", where human D.N.A. was shaped to form super-athletes (like goalies that are solid walls of flesh to keep the ball away from the net) and even household items (like easy-chairs that massage you and cars that drive themselves) before they went out of control.
Loosely based on that concept, Francis Luftkompressor Gwynne is engineered from many furry DNA samples to create a biomechanical work of air compressing art. With his hose-tail, he's able to dispense any amount of air into whatever the customer orders.
This is Version 2 of the concept, using littledragon's Krystal model, manipulated to look male/androgynous. The silver fur was made with Foxy Fellow's raccoon texture, but heavily tweaked through Poser 7's materials panel to make it silver and blue (reminds me of car paint). The hose tail comes from BionicRooster's Easy Pose Rope, while the hose end comes from mjc's Garden Hose models (it was the only one I could find of the type). His pressure gauge bellybutton comes from Bad Faerie's Steampunk Accessories. The hat belongs to Netherworks' Phoebe, who comes with Poser 7.
This isn't version 2 in the sense of it's better than the original, but rather one of two variations of F.L. Gwynne that I'm not quite satisfied with. I don't particularly like the way I "clipped" his ears (using magnets), not to mention I must've been tired when I came up with his metal nipples. "Oh, spin my nipple nuts and send me to Alaska!"
Any and all comments are appreciated, as I do wish to improve.
