You're right, but even kiddy show like Tiny Toons, Hey Arnold, and Rugrats had themes that had adult content in them, in which the average child wouldn't ever get, but were still good in terms of story telling and characterization. Those shows were more developement then shows that just add randomness as their big punch line.
