I can't belive I forgot to upload this picture! Oh wait, I remember why I didn't. The shame of it all!
Back when I was still looking for a Warhammer army to call my own, I even contemplated an army of the emperor in my weakest moments.
So here I am, SkyShadow the Demonhunting inquisitor. I hope you have something better than any sort of 4+ save, or you're SOL.
And just to get the record straight. I never NEVER even contemplated Grey Knights.... ;)

For a metal look I might've added maybe some sort of brushing or texture to it, like perhaps a line with some rivets near it.
For dragonhide, I'm guessing it'd be close enough to leather. Stitched is easy, considering you can put little lines or x's somewhere as if it were a seam. I don't know about adamintine laced though.. ;>

Actualy they could be bouncing off his chest, even some real world guns eject hard enough to bounce the casings like that. The French FAMAS can send the shell casings 10 feet.
As for the picture, looking damn bad ass. Makes me wish I had the money to finnish my chaos army, I've got one tank, nothing else.

well now, I don't normally comment on others work here but... thats pretty awesome. if not for the law on "xenos" by the imperium I'd be rooting for you there... ^.=.^ in fact me being the kroot mercenary's I'd probably be helping but... well humans don't tolerate aliens in WH40K so I guess I have to be wary of that weapon of yours eh?
