One reason I haven't posted much of late is that I've been spending all my time on this. There are three versions of the finished art. The first version has the title of the fanzine, "Drink Tank 340". I then erased the title and saved a second file. This is the third file, with Saara's name added. I also plan to create a shaved down version to use as an avatar ... ssuming that the stupid, dinky size that avatars are limited to doesn't turn the art into an unintelligible blur. 100 x 100 pixels is insane.
The art matches a similar cover I did for the same fanzine, in which Saara is dressed in a different skin... I mean fur-tight leather costume. The other oufit is a glossy, deep red-black and the background blue-grey. Trim, such as buckles, is silver is gold in this piece, silver in the other.
One technical refinement in this is one I have never tried before -- not that there are two light sources, but that one is tinted.
See the other version https://www.furaffinity.net/view/10442772/
And also the companion pieces http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4426681/ and

Saara Mar is an extraterrestrial being from a planet about 410 lightyears from Earth. She is the "discoverer" of our Planet, but not an official explorer or diplomat of any sort. Imagine you were on a driving trip, got off the main road and found a community of Chinese who had settled in the desert two hundred years ago, but nobody knew about it. That was sort of how Saara discovered Earth. Her people have had a technological civilization for around 4,000 years, which means they can do a lot of things we find unbelievable. For instance, although Saara has a physical presence, it isn't what it seems. She is more like a holodeck being, except that the force fields and energies that make up her presence are not temporary and she is not a sort of illusion. She has a real mind and is self-aware, as well as being in full control of her existence. The usual appearance her people, the Kjola, maintain is that of their natural forms of thousands of years ago. They are naturally strong, fast and long lived. Ordinarily they are about 50 times stronger than a Human -- that works out to being able to beind a steel rod about 7 inches in diameter with their bare hands. Stopping a bullet is no problem ... stopping a 20 mm cannon round would certainly mess them up. But unless killed outright, they would just do something like a replicator fix and you'd have to shoot them again. Saara is about 280 years old, having been born on June 10th, 1732. Age hardly matters since the effects can be reversed with that same replicator business. (Incidentally, I made up up all this shit long before ST:TNG) I could go on just about forever, but I'm unlikely to live to 280 myself...
As long as she's a sentient being, I'm still interested in what she thinks of the half human yet furry creatures she's met, if any. A lesser life form is still curious about what she thinks underneath that simple beauty, even if you don't dare imagine she's capable of being interested you at all. And getting close enough to her to ask such things would be it's own thrill, but perhaps the more basic or even beastial desires are beneath her intellect after all this time. Attraction on sight is likely beyond her now?
In Saara's universe there are no anthropomorphic characters -- there are other beings who may or may not be furry, but none are cartoon foxes or anthro-bunnies, if you see what I mean. It's a science fiction universe in which there are sentient species from other worlds that don't mostly don't happen to have shed their body hair the way Humans have.
In my philosophy, no matter how smart you are, how perfect our memory, how fast your grasp of facts or reaction times, you are still a conscious mind no better and no worse than any other person. You don't become some sort of transcendental being ... for to be transcendental would be something other than conscious. You might be some sort of collective consciousness, say, or mechanical consciousness without ego, but not conscious as a Human Being understands it, and thus not really a person. And my philosophy on the matter is necessarily Saara's, since I'm the creator of both her and her universe.

Godly annotations aside, it's fun creating, a sense of owning the idea that you can be absolutely right about your own imagined thing/person/place and only the truly self involved can try and tell you something's not right about it. What's hard is when you're judged for your fantasies by the unimaginative, especially over something that could never happen for real anyway. I do like wondering how characters and places would carry-on when suddenly losing your mind's influence and find themselves on their own.
And you can imagine Saara was striking tank vixen style poses and making faces behind you while you were waxing all philosophically to your crowd of one here. And I can bet there was a black squirrel behind me posing back at her and flashing various body parts at her in the meantime. ;)

As long as she dresses like this on a regular basis, I don't care what she is.
