Well, After two years, countless push-ups, crunches, running, and generally changing my life style, I finally feel comfortable in my own skin. Its funny too that really what started it was switching from regular coke, to coke zero. I started loosing weight and then got motivated to get back in shape. I went from 270 lbs to 170 lbs
Its hard (daunting, scary, intimidating ect) to get started, but once you get the ball rolling, its so easy to make small changes, after time it adds up. And then one day people don't recognize you anymore. I can't think of a more rewarding decision. I lost the equivalent weight of a 13 year old kid

o..o wow. hot.
Congratz. I personally got... semi-lucky on life's roll with physique. hyper-metabolism, thin as a rail and naturally toning. Though I've got downsides out right with my luck-of-the-draw. First, my hyper-metabolism's opposite is hypoglycemia. I've also taken a hit with a heart mummer, and possibly mitral valve. Second, my body is so toned, i have about 3% body fat (look like anorexic, plus 3% is where you should be hospitalized with life-endangering low fat content). Third... *sighs* the worse one. i'm 6 foot 1, large chest, small boobs, no rump, along with being thin as a rail. This is /seriously/ not good for girls, given need of clothes, and those kinds of measures are not in-luck for finding non-custom, low-income type wearable.

Starting kinda happened by accident for me xD I left an environment where I was constantly swilling soda and living off of rommen noodles to a place where I was eating home cooking and drinking water / tea. Eventually I noticed my pants getting looser and realized I was loosing weight. That motivated me and really put it in my head that I could actually loose weight and get in shape. My best advice as to the very first step is mental advice. You have to realize that your health and your body is the one of the most important things in life that you truly have any control over. And you REALLY have to want it and commit to it. As for a daily routine, that depends on how in/out of shape you are. For me the routine at first was just eating better, but here's some of what I learned along the way. (I've got a ton of advice)
Eating:
You really have to watch your calorie intake, and that is difficult. If you live in America, you are set up for failure unless you pay attention. Everything is pretty much fattening and the portion sizes are ridiculous.
So slowly start cutting back on your portions, really think about what your eating and ask yourself "does this taste so good its worth not being fit (and, attractive ,healthy, strong ect)". Eat regular meals even if you dont have the time. Seriously a Granola bar is my best friend and they're cheap. A box only cost a buck at the dollar store, and each one is only 190 calories (f*ckin love that shit). I eat a granola bar for breakfast, along with a piece of fruit, usually an apple or a bannana. Sounds like nothing, and trust me at first you will still be hungry after such a small meal, 5 minutes later though you feel full. It is Very important to eat breakfast. First because it starts your metabolism early in the day which you need to have happen in order to start burning calories.
For lunch I have a salad. (And I mean a real salad, not a meat platter with lettuce) and another piece of fruit, usually an orange.
Then dinner is usually a home cooked meal, with starch protein veggies and what not. I eat much smaller portions and eat slower so that I feel full after one plate. And you have to watch the condiments. Broccoli is only healthy until you douse it with butter and salt. Then you might as well be eating Hershey kisses.
Exercise:
At first this was the hard part. when your out of shape its really hard to muster the energy to work out. So start small. Go for a walk, but do it every day. And every day go a bit further, then go a bit faster. After a while of eating better and becoming active, you'll be feeling up to jogging. It will still seem hard but once you've done it a few times it really does grow on you. And you really get a great sense of satisfaction after you've pushed yourself.
Its very important (more so then some would tell you) to do strength training if you plan to loose weight. Muscles are where your body burns calories. Jogging will help you build up energy but all the jogging in the world wont really do anything if your muscles aren't larger. Its simple, The more muscles you have, the more calories they burn, and the more weight you loose. (You actually burn more calories sleeping the jogging). I did lots of push-ups and crunches, curls triceps ect. If you're like me and you couldn't really do push ups a first, then try doing them standing against a wall at first. Just lean over at about 60 degree's and push off the wall. Or do push ups the traditional way, but support yourself with your knees instead of your feet. And regardless of how small you have to start, never be ashamed of yourself, everyone has to start some place, and at least you are doing something which is more them most can say. But when you feel tired, out of breath or you feel a burn, don't stop. Your body will trick you but unless you have a heart condition, you will be fine. And its only after you feel tired and keep going, that you're actually making progress.
Some other tips:
If you live with someone else, tell them you are getting in to shape and have them make you stick to it. Guilt can be a powerful motivator when you think about quitting xD Or possibly get them to work out with you! If they are cooking for you, do not be afraid to hurt their feelings by not eating what they prepare if its too fatty.
If your house is full of junk food, that will make things harder. The decisions you make about what you're going to eat start at the grocery store.
The scale is important, but for the love of god don't use it every day. Weigh yourself once a week at the same time of day. Your weight fluctuates a lot from day to day and that can be really discouraging if you are really trying hard and you appear to have gained a pound. (I've wanted to smash a scale many times). Also keep in mind that muscle weighs more then fat, so if your gaining muscle, you might gain weight at some points, but your waste will be shrinking.
If you are really freakin' hungry and its still a half hour until lunch, don't beat up the snack bar. Instead, dink a lot of water, and keep some with you. Water will help you feel full for about 15 minutes (plus its good for you). And if all else fails just keep this in mind; Every time your stomach growls, that's just another one of those little bastard ass fat cells biting the dust
