Today at 13:14 PDST (26April13 at 20:14 GMT) my dog Buffy finally gave in... Three weeks after her arthritis was aggravated beyond her ability to stand the pain. She had been doing better the past few days but her inability to really walk or squat finally caught up with her. Some time this morning she walked from her laying spot in her pin all the way out to the front steps of the cabin and laid down at the steps... She never stood up again.
I miss you Buffy. You are just as stubborn and dry whited as I am. No wonder why I'm the one that taught you trust.

She's already in the ground about 25yards from the cabin. The rock I used to hold the sheet down over her while I dug is still next to the front step... I don't think I'll ever be able to move that rock.
p.s. This is the reason why when I part with someone that I don't say 'goodbye'. GoodBye's are permanent (or at least very long term). I only say them when life ends or relations are no longer valid.
p.p.s. if you want to read more about her and why this is so beyond painful. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10295465/ my previous dog took no effort. Buffy... Well, she was a tough one to calm; heh... still just like me.

This dog looks georgous. I am sorry for you loss, I know exactly the pain you mean though
I also read the old journal (something just told me it would be worth it, and it was).
Her story reminds me so much of my old dogs.
A puppy that no one wants and the "kids" finally just make the decision.
The pain never truly leaves but after a while, there is much more happiness when you think back to the lost ones.

I'm sorry to hear about that :( I read your story that you posted about Buffy and i know that she was a challenge, but its those that really stick with you in your mind.
She was really lucky to have you as a friend, lord knows what would have happened to her had you not intervened.
Cheers to the friends that have passed, and to those we still have today!
