Well, you're witnessing history right now, folks... the first (and probably last) time I've ever uploaded a song on the first of the month instead of at the last minute lol!
Decided to try to get as early as start on FAWM (February Album Writing Month) as I could, resulting in me actually posting my first song about 15 minutes after the site went active for submissions. I wanted the first song to be short and sweet... kind of a hit 'n run song. Also, I wanted it to rock, but I had to try to make that happen without guitars... and I think I accomplished that. I thought it would be fun to include the line "1 down, and 13 to go", to signify that the first of the 14 songs was done. Thinking about how I could use the number 14 brought me to the title "Fortnight", and the rest of it unfolded from there. Still trying to get the hang of mixing on unfamiliar equipment, but I'm pretty damn happy with how this came out.
Not to mention-- and I've been so busy working on this and getting it up online, that I haven't even realized it until this very moment-- this is officially my first completely new finished original song in over a decade!!! WOO-HOOOO!!! :D

Heh, thanks! If you go over to my FAWM page, you can hear the second song, as I've just finished uploading it! I'm going to try to resist the temptation to post all of them on FA as soon as they're done... if I fall back into another period of creative stasis, I may need to make these tracks last for a while lol.

Thanks, Sedge! Yeah, I re-used the synthy-wah-guitar sound that I used in "The Politicians", although it's featured more prominently here. I have the feeling that that's going to become my "go to" sound when I need to find a substitute for a guitar sound. I just hope I don't overdo it too much.
