I've had these gloves finished for awhile and just got around to composing a nice picture of them.
Everything on them is hand-sewn except for the 'arm' portion, which is a bit easier to use a machine on than around each finger once the paw-pads have been sewn in place.
For a first time experience sewing paws, it was very time consuming and satisfying once they were finished.

Those are my goals as I create things too! A suggestion for your next pair of paws; Hand stitch the finger areas with a fast, course stitch, of course tucking the fur along as you go. Then machine stitch over that. In a way as if your hand stitching was simply a pinning job to keep the fur tucked and keep the finger alignment proper. This is what I do when I make paws. I run a fast hand stitch, then a straight machine stitch, then an overcasting machine stitch.
That sounds like it would work really nicely if I didn't sew pawpads on the fingers as well. Once those are attached getting the seam to pass under the machine's foot is next to impossible. Not sure how to remedy that situation unless I make the fingers exxxxtra wide. Hm. *chin taps*
Awww, how annoying! Have you tried different feet for your machine? There may be a foot that gets you closer, perhaps you could machine sew 50-75% of the finger area by machine. I don't think you should go wider with your fingers, I really like the snug and contoured look. They look more like paw-hands and less like mittens!
That -is- a good idea. I should be able to get at least -some- of the gloves double-sewn and it would definitely help with them being extra durable. I'll have to look into getting alternate feet for my sewing machine. I got mine second hand from my mom, who used it for quilting, so I'll have to double check to make sure that I am using the best foot for the job. <3
