There are many things you can say about the English: They have a
strange way to dress, UNenjoyable beer, not to mention their cuisine. They are used to feel a stormy day on a cold coastline with tea and scones as "a felicitous picnic" and they seem to have an unhealthy relation to their horses.
But they are the goddamn BRAVEST folk ever lived, really!
I mean, the whole nation is brave, that is proved not only in several wars, in which everyone helped each other and the civil population sustained all misconveniences. But it is also shown in all that little gestures one can find on that strange Island.
Logically, as Great Britain is a seafaring nation, the bravest and best men always have been in the navy. So, this image is dedicated to ALL THE BRITISH SAILORS AND SEAFARING MEN.
Well, as I am a PIRATE artist, I couldn't resist and putting them in the foreground, but the uniform speaks for itself^^ Kinda like this one...
Done with a little help of Howard Pyle, the greatest and best of all maritime artists.
Watercolors, crayons and photoshop.
All characters are copyright to me.
By the way, I am kinda FRENCH! You know how HARD it is for me to confess that those Roastbeefs ar brave? ;)

"While Britannia's Huns, with their long range guns sailed in through the foggy dew..." - That's not a very flattering song for the English, but it's the only one I could think of at the moment. ^^
That's a great action scene! I feel like I'm taking part in the fight or at least covering behind the backs of those more brave than I...

yep Napoleon, (My personal idol) is spinning in his grave over that one! yet though ol' Great coat' was the best strategist on land his navy could not even float a cork right versus the British. Still Wellington cheated using artillery on the Old Guard. that was just cowardly.
nice picture though. difficult to do action in a cloud of smoke. well done!
and that perticular thing about liking horses is not only English you know!

You, sir, are on my list of favorite (and watched) artists for a good reason. Well, several of them, actually. You have a real knack for putting together dynamic, fairly complex scenes, but you keep them expressive rather than turning them into a purely technical exercise. Besides, how could I not enjoy someone that has a clever wit to go along with all of that artistic talent? Of course, I do enjoy pirates, so that helps too.
