The head is foam-and-balaclava based, and yes, the jaw is articulate - and wonderfully sensitive! I don't have to exaggerate my jaw movement at all to get it to work well like I do in my Blood Raven fursuit, which was my first attempt at a balaclava head. The trick seems to be the make the band of elastic sewn across the jaw really, really tight and snug, which works well with zip-in style heads (the back of the head - underneath the back of the hair, which velcros in place - features a double zipper, one in the fur and one in the balaclava, so that I can wear the head with my glasses on underneath and still make it nice and tight!)
The teeth are made out of sculpy coated in acrylic glaze, and the tongue is literally just a pink dish towel I cut up - two pieces sewn together inside out to make it nice and puffy, and another line sewn down the middle to make it more visually tongue-like. It's hot glued in to the very back of the mouth, and hangs free otherwise (it can even hang out the side of the mouth for extra cuteness points, ahaha).

Hehee, Mal wears boots at all times! Sorry! XD The next two suits I'll be making will have nice, large feet paws, don't you worry. ;D
Also, hey, do you still want me to make you a set of gray wolf feet paws? I totally just remembered our discussion about them back at Morphicon!

Hehee, okay! What shoe size are you again? Or better yet do you have an old comfy pair of sneakers or something you could send me that I could make into 'em for you? That way you'll know they'll fit! :D If not, just gimme a size and I'll hit up the thrift store this weekend.
Thanks! <3 Third, actually, but let's not ever talk about my very first attempt, ahahaa. The first time is pretty much always a mess when it comes to fursuits, because it's such a mind boggling project to wrap your head around (literally too, ooo bad puns XD) at first. Second head I actually like though, yes. :D
After I finish the next two suits I have planned, I will indeed be opening up for commissions in a official capacity or whatever. If I can get three or four commissions for them this summer instead of having another summer job, that would be lovely.

Because Mal/Nathan Fillion has a roman nose, and it made it look more like him. :D And I wanted to make it very distinctly different than Blood Raven, head-shape wise, rather than making generic heads that all look basically the same like a lot of fursuit makers tend to fall into doing. :)
this is still so much friggin' win. especially now that I see him in the shirt & suspenders, so awesome!! :D
and a zip-up head, GENIUS...
i would also like to point out that wigs tend to look terrible on fursuit heads, however this somehow blends in and 'meshes' very well, it looks excellent. (MF's about the only other person i've seen that can make wigs look good on fursuit heads)
*two thumbs up*
