You're kinda close (like 600 miles away close)--it's Southeast Alaska. Ketchikan area.

Yeah, I've been flying the AK bush here since 2007. The company I fly for has actually had a few offers to be featured on a TV series like Flying Wild Alaska--problem is, the second you stick a camera into a pilot's face, they're going to do something stupid. And since it's on national television, all the questionable things done are immediately available for the FAA to see.

As for learning to fly: if you're just in it for the ability to fly around, you can always become a sport pilot. Significantly cheaper than going for a private pilot license.

learning to fly will be a high all it's own. After 40 years I'm getting back into flying. It all those years aviation has always been one of my passions in life. But life has other ideas.
