Calling All Friends Of Hollie Hyena
I have a dilemma.
holliehyena recently asked me to re-record something I did for her a few months back, because she had been provided with some more words.
Then,
bobbythornbody suggested that rather than sing it myself, I let anyone who was a friend of Hollie in on it.
That sounded like a nice surprise to me, but it would mean trying to contact them all, not really possible without ruining the surprise.
But, I believe that when something is a good idea and nice to do, to heck with the surprise, do it anyway.
So, here's the lyrics:
[Key of C]
We have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
She has the best laugh of the year
She's so rare, I do declare
You best give her a cheer
We have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
She's the greenest one you see
Give high fives When she arrives
And she will smile with glee
Ho, ho! The cookie dough!
Always bakes up sweet!
Those who receive them soon
Will have a grateful treat
We have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
And she bakes for us all day
Oh, thank God we have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
Hooray!
[Key of Db]
She's a Holly Jolly Hyena
And she's always full of cheer
She'll turn your frown Right upside down
Whenever she is near
She's a Holly Jolly Hyena
And you needn't be afraid
You will laugh 'Til you split in half
At her Latest escapades
Hip, hip! The chocolate chip!
Snickerdoodles too!
All made with loving care
And shipped right out to you!
She's a Hollie Jolly Hyena
And we love her, all the way
Oh, thank God we have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
Hooray!
Ho, ho! The cookie dough!
Always bakes up sweet!
Those who receive them soon
Will have a grateful treat
[Key of D]
We have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
And she bakes for us all day
Oh, thank God we have a Hollie Jolly Hyena
Hooray!
Now, depending on the number of people who respond, you may get to sing two stanzas, or two lines and a stanza, or one line and a stanza. But, I don't want anyone holding up the works, either.
So, if you want in on this you NEED the following:
1) headphones
2) a decent microphone
3) time to record someplace QUIET!!
4) a sense of urgency. I would like to complete this in a week or less.
If you want in, I will want you to send me a track (wav or mp3) singing this. Here what you need to do:
1) Either get a copy of Audacity, or use a program that can play and record at the same time.
2) Play the vocal follow given here through headphones, and record JUST YOUR VOICE on a separate track singing the song. Please try to find some place quiet to record. And I mean QUIET!! I can only remove so much background noise. And please use the vocal follow. Otherwise, you will end up singing it off key and out of tempo. I can only correct for that so much.
3) Send the track with your voice alone to degroot.max[at]gmail.com BEFORE Sunday.
And please don't think, oh, he won't take me, he hates [me/my voice]. No, this is for Hollie. If you are her friend, and you want in, I'll find a way to put you in, as long as you are timely.
If you plan to do this, leave a comment, so I know to look for your recording over the next few days. Also, if you have any questions or need any help/advice, don't hesitate to ask.
