the armors main use is to protect the body of the wearer, so the tail exposed is a weakness. plus, inside the armor the tail would be compressed and be smaller in width, for annulling the fluffyness, and wouldn't look so silly. you could try that, it might look good too. mind that it still would be larger than a feline tail for the big amount of fur.
