So this is a tank rescue, actually.
I got it from a friend who is moving soon. If I didn't take it she was just gonna leave it behind, fish and all D:
The tank was a mess. I don't think it was ever cleaned once. It took about an hr to clean. The algae was at least a finger tip deep. There was a gold fish, an Opaline Gourami and a Plecko in the tank. Both the Gourami and the Plecko both get too big for a 5 gal tank, so I took them both to a local pet shop where they'll have plenty of space to grow up and live healthy.
I kept the gold fish because he's tiny and they figured he was already on his way out (he was floating up on his nose) he's still alive and kicking for now.
Tomorrow I'm going to stock the tank with some barbs and see about some live plants.

I'm a terrible fish owner. =(
I had a tank about the size of that, and just a few fish. I did everything by the book. I had a snail to clean, all the fish were friendly with each other, the water PH balance was right, the temp was good... everything.. and my fish never lived more than a couple weeks =(
although, a carnival goldfish I had in a plain bowl lasted like 5 years... =.=
