Initially, I was going to write a journal here about how this picture relates to me. After all, that was the original intent. However, last night, I had a most wonderful revelation that I plan on writing as a standard journal sometime this weekend.
CARE TO PLAY A GAME?
Write me how you interpret / see this picture? What do you think is going on? What does it make you think of?
Stay pony, my friends. *Flutters* Gabby-Gabby-Gaboo!

I gather from is a hesitation to MLP and the associated fandom in general. Derpy in particular seems central to bronies in general since she is by far the most well loved of the background ponies. I think Yosh is very much intimidated by the very nature of MLP especially with the size difference between the pony and the yoshi duck. Given that Derpy is still portrayed on model and trying her best to be entertaining and not inherently scary, it's an acknowledgement that the show itself is good, but from the expression on Yosh's face it's apparent that there is a deep reprehension against either MLP or bronies or both, for reasons I cannot determine. That's what I read from it.
Wow! That's quite an awesome interpretation! I credit you highly for such a deep and thoughtful view.
I am particularly impressed with how you analyzed Derpy to Yosh. Certainly a well thought out idea and one I feel definitely can be seen from the image.
*Hugs* Thanks, Stoneth! :)

Art is an interesting thing. People can interpret the same piece of art in many different ways. In the song, Detachable Penis, some take it at face value, others see it as a song about metaphorical emasculation. Some think Of Wolf and Man is a song about the primal nature of humanity, I say it'a a song about lycanthropy. That is the beauty of art.
And all the reason I am happy you participated in my little game here. Rather than be all wordy like I typically am, I thought it'd be tons more fun to hear what you and others have to say about it. I may have developed all the details, but
therainbowtroll was given full freedom with a number of nuances as I wanted her interpretation of my idea. Getting yours makes it even more fun as, honestly, I never would've saw it that way unless you freely gave that perspective.
*Hugs* And, yes, I know what you mean about songs. I usually do all my children's writing while listening to Nine Inch Nails or Avenged Sevenfold. They don't seem to go together, but the energy in the music, along with some lyrics, are quite inspiring.
The most clever song lyrics I've come across are from Marilyn Manson. Some of the references he makes like "He is a super manikin" are very clever to find.

He's worried about his eyes or his new eyeglasses looking different. Snowdrop's presence makes me think that it may be related to fears of either looking different or losing eyesight or both.
As a meta-commentary, this is also interesting-- take the history of Ms. Hooves-- when all 4chan had to go on was a single screenshot of a pony in the background that had a walleyed expression, they immediately named the cartoon horse "Derpy Hooves" which had already been passed around the sight as a slur against people with cognitive differences (google derp face). Snowdrop's story is great because, as we talked about, is not only emotionally moving, it doesn't go the whole "disability superpower" route or "look how inspiring the blind pony is just for being blind" but instead examined the isolation, doubts of others and showed that she was an understanding pony because of her struggles and that she was fine just the way she was (during the talk with her mom about wishing for something, the "don't I need my eyes"?).
I think they're both looking to cheer up and reassure Yosh that there is no one else exactly like him, and then he can be happy being who he is.

Wow-wow-wow! Definitely a delightful interpretation, egg brother.
I am most amused at the background of 4Chan and how one screenshot spurred the whole "Derpy Hooves". I never looked into it that deeply, but it is nice to know the back story a bit more than I did before.
Your first paragraph and last paragraph definitely are most thought provoking and are quite close to what I thought of when I asked
rainbowtroll to do this piece. Having the opportunity to not ruin the interpretation with all my writing is a lot of fun and I like getting other perspectives on what is now a keepsake for my therapist. :)

therainbowtroll Man, I wish you could edit comments. *Shrugs* Oh, well. :)
Well, in this case, it is best I enjoy the free interpretation as, yesterday, I had quite the realization and am rather excited about it. :)
Have you had any "Eureka!" moments lately, dear, egg brother? I do like how you are poised to finally escape Mathemagic Land. *High Five* Keep up the awesomeness!

<LoL!> That is a most fun interpretation, Ozzie! The part about being scared by Derpy because she is so big compared to him is my favorite part of your visual. Yosh's face seeing her trying to be nice, but seeming so huge, definitely would make him a nervous, dino-ducky. Not only that, he might have an accident for being so worried he is under attack by a big, scary pony!
The other concept of Snowdrop pointing out that Yosh isn't potty trained and him being all embarrassed works well, too, as the sequence of events you paint is very visual as a "Before" and "Current" for the image.
Thanks for sharing! *Crinklehugs*

Hehe, I already know, but I'll make up the reeeeal one! Yosh is spending the night at a pony friend's house, snowdrop, and he's nervous about it, maybe because she and Derpy are both girls and Yosh is the only boy there. He got a little worried about it or if they'd have to play dolls and girly things or if they could just play with normal toys and Derpy's singing the alphabet song as illustrated at the top of the picture and making goofy faces to cheer Yosh up and let him know that boys and girls and anyone can just play and have fun doing things together, and that they have blocks and ducks and yoshi toys there too just like he does at home. (: Woo!
Woop indeed! That is the most fun take on the picture so far. Very cool!
My favorite part was how you have Derpy singing the alphabet song to cheer up Yosh, who is nervous about having a sleepover with girls. Will they be like his sister? Is it a good idea to be with them? Will they be as nice to him as the usual person he spends the night with?
The way your take plays out does well for a Past, Present, and Future as you can kind of see Derpy finishing her song and Snowdrop emphasizing how they have toys just like Yosh does at home and that playtime is at hand. :)
