Because I have no idea what to call it!
This recipe uses things most people have lying around their house. If you don't have something in the list, it can generally be substituted, or left out.
What you need:
-Ramen of your choice
(the bricks, not "cup-o-noodles")
-Frozen veggies of choice (If you use canned, you'll have A LOT of veggies)
-Sliced ham, turkey, chicken, or beef
-Seasonings (I used all-purpose seasoning, celery salt, Thyme, Garlic, black pepper, and a bayleaf. If you don't have all-purpose seasoning, BELLS poultry seasoning works too)
-1 Packet of soy sauce (I suggest Worcestershire sauce if you're making beef, eyeball that)
-1-2 Packets of hot-sauce (OPTIONAL)
What to do:
-Fill a pot with a little more water than you want broth (it'll evaporate), and add the flavor packet, herbs, spices, and whatever else you're adding that's not noodles, meat, or veggies. I tend to use my nose when I'm measuring seasonings. If you want exact measurements, I have none because it also depends on the amount of water you're using. (ie more water = more seasonings)
-Bring to a boil, and add your noodles.
-When they're 3/4 cooked, add your veggies, and if desired, sliced meat. Some people like their meat on the side (in which case I suggest you fry it up really quick in a pan so it's nice and hot).
-Keep boiling until the noodles and veggies are done, and a good portion of the water is cooked out. OR You can let simmer for well-done pasta and veggies like I did. The only effect it'll have on the meat is that it comes out a bit drier (which I personally enjoy)
OPTIONAL:
If you're sharing the meal with someone, make chicken-nuggets on the side. They dunk well in the broth.
You could always add a hard-boiled egg if you feel like making that ahead of time. I didn't have any eggs or I might've swapped out the egg for the ham.
If you have hot-dogs (specifically chicken or beef franks) you could throw that in rather than using lunch-meat.
All i can say after having this, was that A) I wish I'd had mushrooms to add to this, and B) it's PERFECT for a cold! Or congestion in general. If anyone tries this, lemme know! I might just have the world weirdest palette.
