That show hurts my brain...I was looking for something to watch one night and all that was on was Shin Chan...so I decided "What the hell, maybe I just caught it on a bad episode" and I switched to it. What do I see? It's bath night...and Shin is stretching his dick....as if it's some kind of game....
I said three words "What the fuck!?" and stared in utter disbelief that something like that was cleared for network television....

Honestly, i thought the same thing the first episode i watched. I thought it was gonna be a cute fuzzy anime and wouldn't last long but boy was i wrong. I think because the show is crude and mature is why its doing so well. Like others mentioned, the first 2 versions brought over to the states were geared for kids, but american standards for kids telivision is a bit more strict on 'dick streching' then Japan i guess LOL. The only way its going to fly over here is to make it 'enjoyable' for the late night adult audience, which they did a wonderful job doing. X3
It makes me angry and throw things at the TV. I used to watch Crayon Shinchan when it was shown in Japanese back home and Funimation did so many retarded things to the show for no reason. >_< UGH. Thankfully, the original stuff's easily found on Youtube, so I can show people why I dislike the current stupid-ified incarnation.

I've heard that from other folks that watch the original, which is understandable. If i could understand the original episodes, i would totaly watch them, but alas, watashi no Nihongo wa yokunai desu lol. (i probably screwed that up, Gomennasai /swt)

Actually, there's a bunch on Youtube that are the subtitled ones from KIKU (the Japanese channel in Hawaii)! You can tell because they have the little KIKU watermark in the lower right corner. Also, the sound quality is kinda awful. :p I think someone must have taped a lot of them and then transferred them from VHS to Youtube somehow, which I'm immensely thankful for... cause yeah, not a lot of people I show them to can speak fluent Japanese. Heck I'm not THAT great at it either. <XD
eh well, i knew there probably had to be different versions of shin chan considering the quote that went something like "there are plenty of attractive bald men (guy), bruce willias, and natalie portman" and the show was made in like.. the early 90s

It is amazing how much this show can boggle your mind, specially since the show is set for a time at night no child should be on, and the American version is actually censored somewhat. I would say though that a person who writes a story that contains :Herms, Ub, Vore, Cock Vore, Dragons, Humans, Oviposition, Transformation, Preg, and Non Consentual Dragon/Human Sex, could think of much more fucked up than a kid who loves farts.

My DVR is full of Shin-Chan episodes. My wife even sent me the song of the ending credits for a ringtone.
