Due to FurAffinity's max file dimesions being 1280x1280, I had to switch around my original tutorial.
If this one is too small or confusing, send me a note with your email, and I'll send you the larger, less confusing tutorial. =^_^=
Anyway, start at the top left, go down, go up to the top of the next column and so on.
The finished picture is here:

Oh yay!! I'm so delighted, thank you! I've just read the whole thing and yea, I've never used that method before and totally want to try it out! Thank you so much for making this! *wags tail* I really appreciate it!
Now Imma little confused about the last column where it says to do the same fuzzy shading as the highlights, I can't tell what you're doing there....it seems like your reselecting the the boundaries of the dark shading and then putting the base color on an airbrush opacity to lighten the ends? I was just wondering about that :) I'm looking at the normal picture by itself here and it looks like that's what you mean.
But yea as I said you did the hair absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad you shared how it's done! *wags tail* :) Thank you!!!

Basically the idea is to add a little more shade where there would be less light, but not as strong as the initial shading. So for the "fuzzy-ing" of the first layer of shading, have the first shade color picked with the entire base layer selected like in the picture. That way your fuzzy shades don't escape where you want them to go.
When you fuzz-ify the second shade layer, you want to make sure that you have the first shade layer and it's fuzz layer selected so that you don't get the darkest shade in areas where it's not really supposed to be.
Oh this would be so much easier if I could show you in person X_X but I have no idea how to make a video at all.
Pretty much, I just wanted to show you how the technique worked (easily shown with the shiny part of the hair) and then intuition would eventually make sense of it all XD Just try it out a couple of time and after messing with it, it should become a little more understandable and less confusing =^_^=
You are very welcome! =^_^=
