Again at the Ft. Worth Zoo, she was playing with that gourd at her feet, batting it all around the cage very cutely. Unfortunately for me I had my 200mm lens on and she was to close to the cage to focus, and there were to many people watching for me to get proper positioning. excuses excuses. Her pausing for a moment was the best of the line. :)

Wow nice shot. I used to live in Lewisville TX, and visited this Zoo alot. Never could get a good picture of either of these two though because of the fence. Same thing with the two Jags next door. I never seen them play, always growling and fighting. I just figured Mountain cats have a bad attituded in general.
No way! Cougars are very gentle, but like smaller cats (and all of them in general) They have individual personalites and some can have a bit of a attitude. I only saw this girl once, and she seamed well off, she even sniffed at some kids threw the fence. The kitties I visit at our local zoo are always very mellow, and if they're not loafing they are rolling about being hams for people. :p I could now go into disposition in the wild but I won't bore you, needless to say Cougars are generally more curious than vicious, unless A. Juvinile who has lost its mother and may not know better, and think you are a deer. B. Very hungry or sick. But thats anyone.
Also the trick to getting threw the fence is to have enough distance between you and the subject so depth of field will take it out, and have a high zoom lens. If she was close the fence would fall into focus.
