For a dragon like Bern that have to swallow other creatures as his work, it's really important have an always good breath and clean teeth. Sadly, it's hard for a feral creature to pick up a toothbrush and clean his mouth, as it can't have a precise gripping with his claws.
Thankfully, Ranek is always willing to help him to resolve that situation, and like a professional cleaner, he proceed to help his big friend.
This is not the only zone Ranek love to clean. In fact, as in a very deep symbiosis, the little meerkat clean the big dragon outside and even inside him, while the dragon provide him food and a home. A situation where both creatures win.

This picture is absolutely adorable. The amount of envy I feel is immeasurable :P okay Im kidding, but I will be honest in saying that I totally wish I could do something like with you Bern, you're so precious to me and I love you as my big black and orange dragon, you are sweet and kind and loving and this picture really shows that, you're heart is so big it fills the room.

Despite the belief, the dragons are really social creature, so this situation can happen.
After all, The dragons are feral creatures and they can't really clean themselves. The smaller creature can help them to do that, and at the same time obtain the protection and the food from the big lizards.
