I've been working on this gradually at work for the past three weeks or so. A colleague wanted to see a wildebeast and having never drawn one before, I was more than happy to oblige. I like the colour combo again. I adjusted the contrast a fair bit, so this is quite a bit darker than the original.

I very much like FB water colour pencils. They suit some papers better than others, but they seem to be slightly better quality than Derwent (I can't believe I'm saying that) and I like the fact that they have a bigger colour selection. At the moment I'm generally using FBs to complement my existing collection of Derwent pencils.
That is wonderful! They look like they lay the colour smoothly and evenly. I have been dying to work with dark papers lately just been a little nervous about it lol. Any tips on them? Wow! Derwent makes the best graphite my boyfriend just picked me up a set lol. I have yet to use coloured pencils here though they don't really sell them just graphite. But still love em lol. Same as General's pencil brand. Fantastic! That is cool they have a bigger selection. I have only used FB's pens so far I have been itching to use some of their glittery/gel pens for accenting my art the cheaper ones tend to gunk up every now and again over my dry watercolour works.
Dark papers are wonderful, because they do half the work for you. You can get wonderful shadow effects with very little effort. Rather usefully you can still do a pencil sketch on black paper, although it will be fairly faint. On the plus side, it rarely shows up in scans. Just be careful with certain black papers, I've found that Canford's black paper, which in many other ways superior to others I've tried, actually shows finger prints when scanned in.
I really like Derwent in general, but some of their colours have hard bits in the led, which stops the colour flowing and just leaves scratches on the paper. This has made some of the colours pretty much unusable. Really very annoying. Other than that, they're fab.
