The title came from inspiration from Japanese tales and folklore:
When a kitsune is born, every one hundred years, it grows another tail. At 1,000 years of age, it grows its final tail, its ninth. When this happens, the kitsune turns either gold or silver, which is why I have it turning gold, starting at its tail tips.
