When you work the night shift.

Got a call that there was a snake spotted on the sidewalk, so I went to take a look at it. This is Florida, after all; the Jungle is never far away, and constantly tries to get indoors.

But here's a cute little (about 2 feet long) corn snake, out and about and looking for dins, apparently. We have sparrows nesting up in the canopy over the sidewalk, and twice last year we've found snakes eating birds.

Nature, red in tooth and claw - it's like an enormous restaurant.

I shooed the little fellow off of the concrete, and he slithered quickly into the tall grass.
