This poll made me decide to seriously attempt a totoro fanart. At first it was totoro with a squirrel, beneath a shrub. Then the shrub became an illuminated manuscript shrub. So the squirrel became Pangur Ban.

I'm posting the rough drawing here I guess to try and gauge what the reaction to it is. I really like this drawing, but I feel like crossovers or obscure characters or anything that isn't a strait forward portrait of the desired character (totoro, in this case) ends up being ignored or hated.
