First of all, its not an orifice.
It was an experiment of sorts, my memory crystal lodged in my brain.
Or rather an internal view of how my brain grew arround the crystal.
Now this doesn't look anything like a brain and neither does it look like it is connected to the crystal. Anyway.. it looked kinda nice, the way the crystal seems to give of warmth against the cold grey stuff arround it.

The idea is that I am a Core System, made up of two parts (Memory and Power)
The Crystal is more of a representative field emission since the actual core pieces are in a state of dimentional flux.
Now lets say for an example scenario, I died a few years ago and both pieces where hidden on opostie ends of the world, once the pieces get rejoined (the memory core beeing a smaller chunk of the large Power crystal) the creation process begins via nanites expelled from the Power Cores storage system.
Depending on the energy fed to the core at the moment of connection I gain contiousness at one of the Evolutionary levels of my basic blueprint. During this developement process a high power cord forms between the two pieces and they begin to grow apart with the spinal cord forming arround it, the memory core gets enveloped by brainmatter and connects the memory up with the now forming brain.
The Power Core will remain in the chest and bother about Storing energy and producing nanites.
