I entered the fandom about a decade ago thanks to the VCL not being on any AOL watch lists. I've been colorizing since almost the very beginning, when I was a lot less interested in plain line drawings than full-color works - I'd drop something in MS Paint, lower it to pure black and white, then bucket and pencil in colors as I saw fit. It all looked like crap, of course, but these ugly bitmaps were all I had left from great artists like Todd Sutherland and Fatalis after I moved and changed computers and they fell off the face of the internet. Shit, anyone else remember when Skunked.com was a gallery site?
Anyway, years later, I'm still poking at other peoples' work, for my own enjoyment as much as for any artsy justification I can can come up with. Having seen some amazing oekaki and honest-to-god MSPaint work, I decided to try it again. With a new line-enforcing method in mind and a quick browse through my favorites, I was off - six hours later, here we are. It's not something I'll be doing again, but it was entertaining, and it turned out infinitely better than anything else I've done with Paint.
Might do some color hacking to turn those khakis into shorts, since that's probably what Onta meant for them to be. They were pretty clearly pants in the sketch, so I went with that while I was looking up Evan's colors.
