Anthrocon Inc. Chairman: Kagemushi Goro
ARTISTS: BE BRUTALLY HONEST
Better known in the fandom as the infamous "Uncle Kage." He originally wrote Anthrocon's bi-laws, yet he claims to not be the true leader. He merely maintains order at Anthrocon while defending his fellow furs from bad publicity ever since Anonymous and his minions on 4chan gave the furry fandom a bad name.
But Uncle Kage never loses his cool. He laughs off 4chan's feeble attempts and will keep on doing what he does best: working at Anthrocon... and kicking ass on the side with his Twin Samurai Katana.
This drawing was partially influenced by my appreciation for the BlazBlue franchise (as evidenced by the "crest" and the "astral heat"). Plus I've wanted to draw
for quite some time. I mean come on! He's one of the most awesome personalities in the fandom! How could I not consider drawing him?
Actually, this drawing is more of a fan-made character concept of
rather than a drawing. This was just something I was experimenting with while listening to Gomar and Shioh's theme from F-Zero GX.
I think I impressed myself with this one. As you might have guessed, the most challenging parts to this drawing were his arms. Holy crap! It's hard drawing four arms above the waist. But I had a go at them, and I feel it looks satisfactory even for my standards. I like how I have
holding his swords, the AC rulebook, and a glass of martini with all those arms for the main pose. It sort of reminds me of those stone gods with those multiple arms. Also I'm not one to draw insects, so this was a challenge for me. I tried to capture some anatomical elements of a cockroach and throw them onto this design. For instance, I tried experimenting with near-stick arms and legs with a bit of bristles on them to give them the cockroach-like appearances.
Despite this being my first try at drawing an insect, I think you can agree that they are so hard to draw! I had no idea how to position all four arms above the waist; I wasn't sure where to place them so that they would work and there would be less stress on my part. Other than that, I don't think I had unbelievably big trouble with this picture. But it was very tedious to draw this picture at the time. (LOL)
With all of that in mind, I like this picture overall. It's a different change of pace in terms of character concept design/layout. And still have a couple more where that came from.
