Ahaa here's something you'll be seeing a lot more of over the next year probably.
This thing is gunna be in my final year film oh what fun (and the horrors of animation). Also... found out today that my lecturer and I have the same birthday. It's so odd when that happens.

wow thanks! I'm so happy that someone would find my work inspirational... I really love your sketches too btw. They're so full of character.
Well this one was actually chalk pastels if I remember right but I do use coloured pencils as well sometimes. I kind of swap and mix materials a lot - one day I'll use chalk, or other days I'll use ordinary wooden pencils, mechanical pencils, pens, brush pens etc. I quite like being experimental with it.

Your sketches look incredibly professional! And wow, you think so? Thank you so much! This means a lot considering your own characters and art are so animated and fun!
That is amazing! Thank you for telling me! I think it's fantastic that artists don't rely on one medium to sketch. I want to get into conte sketches. Your opinion?

That is a really nice tip! A lot of artists (even myself!) fail to realize that they need to draw a character that has a strong line of action and 'looks animated'. You are already so good at this!
If you don't mind me asking, what are your other favorite traditional mediums used for concept art/visual development?

Yeah! Oh you should listen to some of the animation podcasts if you like. The animators are mostly from Disney but they all have really good tips on so many different things. I think a lot of people really like looking to Preston Blair's stuff for classic reference on arcs, lines of actions and silhouettes.
Might sound a little biased but I think I've learned more through 2-3 years of studying animation then I have at any other art course. Then again... it's only been the last few years I've been taking this stuff more seriously.
Umm... I dunno. I like a lot of mediums. I probably use a pentel brush pen, or 0.5 mechanical pencil the most - armed with B leads. Sometimes I even use coloured leads. But as for what other people use I like anything that makes a mark! :D
