That would depend on the strength of the innermost wing membrane's support along the body, really. Bats are really the only avians that have membranes attached the entire length of their bodies, and they get away with it only due to their small body sizes.
For a large-bodied avian, if the wing membranes are attached all the way back across the hindquarters, the airflow when flapping would pull the hindquarters up and down with each beat of the wing.
