There are a bunch of chainmail tutorials scattered around online, so if you wanted you could learn. The basic weaves used in these pieces are Byzantine (for the tail), Alligator Back (for the body), and a Japanese 4-in-1 pattern for the scales. There are some fiddly bits around the connections between the weaves, which I won't try to dissect.
If you wanted pointers on learning chainmail you could surely ask around and get some direction.
