(PLEASE NO COMMENTS ABOUT EATING THEM. These are my pets. I handle them, cuddle them, they fall asleep on my lap... I'm raising them for eggs only, so any inappropriate comments will be hidden.)
Chickens now! (Click here to see them just a month ago: http://penanggalan.tumblr.com/post/46949254555 ) Working on the coop soon, but until then I made this cage. They’re SO big. The cage is a good size with perches, but they still manage to make a total mess of it twice a day. Going out early in the morning to get the hanging feeders so they at least can’t knock their water and food over so easily. They’re so stupid omg. But I love them… they still let me pick them up when moving them into a separate cage to clean theirs and usually won’t flail; they just dangle in one hand lol. I held one the other day until it fell asleep in my arms. ;u; So glad they’re still sweet, gotta thank my mom for that for taking care of them while I was away!

Aww ;; I had two girls similar to these in color.. from the time they were tiny chicks, until they were fully grown, but eventually we had to give them away, to a man who kept chickens, ducks, etc. All were his pets, and they were safe and happy.
I loved them, though, so I can entirely relate to them being your pets <3 I was younger then, so I used to 'herd' them around the yard. They honestly didn't care, and promptly resumed pecking the ground xD Eventually I hope to have at least one again. They make lovely pets.

hope that you're property zoning has an "A" somewhere in it
or you may have unpleasantness with your neighbors/code enforcement should they see/hear/smell chickens
I rented a duplex once that the owner's sole reservation was checking if my reptiles (which stay inside) were against the HOA rules, so he wouldn't have to deal with calls from the neighbors while I moved in
floridians are quite nutters atm over anything that might impact fragile property values, just fyi, be careful

Well when they are free range they tend to stay to the roosters territory. Lots of feral chickens at my aunts place. Though they are quit successful in taming said roosters they remain free range.
They are not good flyers and mostly only do it in the evening when they go up in the trees to sleep. Not a good idea to go under that tree when the chickens are snoozing in it, believe me.
How many neighbours do you have? If it is a small amount you can always bribe them with some fresh eggs now and then. And if you have a rooster fertilized eggs stay fresh longer.
