The water frightened her. It was cold, hollow, and foreign. It was no longer the place of reprieve it used to be, something was wrong with it. It took the air from her lungs, and she couldn't breathe. A feeling she had never known under the water. She couldn't breathe....she couldn't breathe...
With a deep, gasping, ragged breath she was awake. Her chest heaved frantically as if air wasn't passing her lips, though it was. Her chest burned and her heart was racing ( or so the phantom pain told her), was this what drowning felt like? She peered about herself, looking very pointedly for one person. She needed the reassurance, just his company alone made her feel better. But, as her eyes took in the room, she only found a small ball under the covers. There was Uhdah, sound asleep, curled like a cat against her thigh and tail.
It's not like she would tell him anyway, he would get that face, that worried sad face. So she kept this to herself, the feeling that something was coming, and that she was changing. Her eyes were changing, the naturally green color being swallowed slowly from the outside in by blue. And her hair was doing the same, growing and the color darker and lighter at the same time....was the ocean going to win? Was she going to cease and something else would take her place?...Or would she simply...fade away?
