That is, in fact, a DHC-2--my 3/4-ton pickup truck with wings.
As for glassy water, you're absolutely correct--because you're staring at a perfect reflection of everything around you, you may as well be trying to land on another sky. Hands-down the most dangerous type of water to operate into with a floatplane.
