purcell is one of my faves of the baroque, lately i'm playing so much of his stuff. some of it is soo haaard. this piece though, it's pretty easy i think, i bet you'd crack it out in a heartbeat heheheh

Wonderful :) I'm a fan of Henry Purcell since his chamber works with Didos and Aeneas, more importanly, 'When I am Laid in Earth'. Great composition ^^

i've loved purcell ever since i heard his "music for the funeral of queen mary" and "peace and i are strangers grown"
i haven't heard "when i'm laid to earth", i'll try to find the sheets!

This feels like the perfect kind of music to have playing quietly in the background, or in your head, when you're in deep thought. It's relaxing (and slightly melacholy IMO), but not the kind of thing that'll make you fall asleep, which is good. If only I'd stuck with practicing the guitar, rather than letting it gather dust in the loft... I could be producing incredible things like this. :'[

culture me, is purcell music all like this?

his stuff is pretty varied
but most of it that i've heard has this particular way of making tension between notes, they'd sound like dischord if it wasn't for the way the notes progressed
i don't know if i'm explaining it very well, heh

I think I can barely grasp the notion, don't worry =3

truth is, my only knowdlege of classical music comes from tchaikovsky (and the hubbie listening to mozart and stuff)

yeh it's a great piece, and i guess kind of easy (uhh relative to, say, uhm stravinsky) so it was fun to learn
here's some stuff i like a lot:
Henrey Purcell - "Come Away Fellow Sailors", "How Blessed are Shepherds", "Peace and I are Strangers Grown", "Song Tune", "Thanks to These Lonesome Vales", "Fairest Isle"
John Dowland - I try to play anything i can by dowland. sometimes it's annoying because you have to alt tune to lute style :\
Robert Schumann - Romance
Faure - Sicilienne
Tchaikivsky - June
so many more i can't think of now

for real just DL powertab, it's a good tab prog and there's a crazy huge archive online
it has tabs and notation, and you can get a midi preview to get a feel for the track
