Flour tortillas
Jams/preserves of your preference - we had cherry, blackberry, apricot and red currant. You can also use peanut butter!
Oil - veggie or corn. Not olive.
Powdered sugar, for decoration (optional)
The process is simple:
1.Take a flour tortilla. Any brand is fine - just make sure it’s foldable. Room temp is best. If you’ve kept it in your fridge, you can heat it up slightly with a few seconds in the microwave or a few seconds on the stove top.
2.Put a small glob of jam in the center of the tortilla. DO NOT SPREAD IT. Simply keep it in a log shape as shown in the pictures above!
3. Fold the tortilla in a way to keep it closed completely . THIS video will give you a good tutorial.
4.In a deep pan, put in about an inch of oil. Heat this up before gently placing a burrito flap side down.
5.Fry on one side and then the other until golden brown.
6.When done, take the changa out and place it on a cooling rack (or like I did, in some paper towels) Let it cool down before eating. If you want, throw some powdered sugar on top.
