Since my mentioned of mrish the other day attracted some interest, I doodled one on a book at training school today. It didn't photograph at all well -- it was a teensy drawing -- so I hit on the idea of coloring it with brush in photoshop. Turned out surprisingly well, all things considered. It didn't take that long either. I may try this style again soon.
Mrish are an old, old creation of mine, from way before I even knew about the furry community. Coincidentally, they are almost like a skiltaire-silkie hybrid in appearance, though closer to the latter. They don't have a naturally prehensile tail, but they often have themselves modified, and the first modification is usually the prehensile tail one. Sometimes they even have silkie-like tail fingers!

Now there's a species I'd not mind running into someday, if spacefaring travels could somehow bring us to a species similar to them. I like how this one looks too.. bit silkie, bit weasel-ish, even looks to be a small touch otter in there. :} To get to befriend one of these critters would be like a god-send to me for now. Great work Strega. :}
That's a normal lifespan for most species in the Commonwealth galaxy. Xsir, one of the longest-established commonwealth races, look a bit like Earth king crabs. Xsir have tinkered with their genetics to the point that their natural lifespan, without any medical efforts, is 3,000+ years. 7000+ year old Xsir are common.
Sure, go ahead. I should point out that about 2/3 of mrish are bisexual and of the remaining 33%, half are entirely homosexual and the remainder "straight". Mrish are in some ways the polar opposite of falan (Strega's race). Falan are stolid and uninterested in sex for almost the whole year, which the often-horny mrish find very frustrating. 83
Mrish "Observers" (ones that live on primitive worlds to study the indigent sophonts) often use a full-body holo-suit (which includes the feel of bare flesh, scales, or whatever is needed) to blend in. Sometimes even with this they need extensive bio-alterations to blend in, such as change of posture (most mrish prefer a four-legged posture, but a biped gait might be needed), amputation of their tail (mrish love their tails, but you gotta do what you gotta do.) The most common modifications are changes to their body chemistry so they can eat the local food. This isn't Star Trek, where everyone can eat everyone else's food. 83
The Commonwealth incorporates thousands of species, many of whom cannot eat each other's food or even breathe each other's air! To simplify logistics, most starships have a crew of only a few races. Mrish and falan can breathe the same air and even eat most of the same foods, so they are seen together a lot.

Thank you. ^^
Sex probably won't feature too prominently, I was more interested in their position as observers; one would be very well suited to the position I have in mind for one of my character's counter parts. Granted of course this is all easily months off. But again thanks, keep an eye on your message box for info requests. ^^

I thouht it is a silkie first:D, yeah ,but silkies are only mutated ferret-cat-human, and mrish are natural :)
I never seen a quite good picture of silkies and their creator's has site is under ...construction ???
I have created my own spiece (pseudo fictional mustelids) too, but I wont to do any projects, yet...

...1st ed o.O damn. >.> should update it to d20 OGL, remove the things that would make some people freak, like, well vore and scat and such, and try to publish it as a standalone space adventure, d20 future is full of suck by and large and too much of it reads like bad starwars fanfic stuff. That and they have yet ti put out any kind of solid theme/design for it just the core book.
