I think you did a good job on the shading :) you gave the character a nice sense of 3dimentionality. The only thing I might recomend is to study light a little more if you want to get better as usually some shadows are soft and some are hard where your picture right now has mostly hard shadow (as if he were under a spotlight maybe) If you want it to be a little more natural you can do a combination of hard and soft shadows. Also if you want to get super nit picky you can have more colorful shadows as even though it is a black character base shadows can come in all different colors. You can also add to this more by adding highlighting to this as well (where the light would be hitting him) sorry i didn't mean to go off i really think this is a nice piece just trying to give feedback since you asked for some :) please don't get me wrong though I do like what you have done here :D
Thank you. I need the criticism, as this is literally the first time I shaded a picture in my life. I'll take your words into consideration, though my shading will be mainly like this for a while until I get a tablet. Doing it with a mouse really takes a toll on me.
All in all, you've done a solid job with the shading. The way that you've illustrated the direction of the light and shadows are both consistent, which can be difficult to do without practice. Uusally I'd be inclined to agree with the above person's comment regarding the inclusion of different tones and colours, but giving the cartoony nature of your piece, I don't think it's something that you really need to worry about to much.
All in all, nice work. ^vvv^
