Xbox One really sucks
Last night Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox called Xbox 1. It forces you to pay a fee to play any used games. Rumor has it that the fees will be as expensive as buying the game new. This new generation of consoles is a complete mess but this is the worst.

That's pretty much how it goes; the game is installed to a particular user account on an xbox. If you try to play the game on a different account, you have to pay.
Now, I'm not sure if different accounts *on the same system* require multiple payments or not. However, if you want to let a friend borrow your game, that won't happen anymore unless they pay. This also kills any kind of video game rentals as well as used game sales.

Microsoft please don't go to the darkside like Sony already did. All those PS3's that make backwards compatibility nearly impossible to achieve with old PS1 and PS2 games, unless you buy the same games as DLC from the Playstation Network.
Seriously too much greed will result in Deep Hurting!

The removed the infrastructure to play PS2 games due to cost and size reasons. PS1 games are still fully playable. Sony didn't go Dark Side they just got stupid for a bit. The past few years the PS3 and consumer good will from Sony and their ideas have been pretty significant. As Xbox 360 was already showing signs of giving less of a damn about games and more trying to do everything.
Yeah I heard PS1 was backwards compatible on a few models. I think what really cheesed me off about Sony was how expensive their consoles were at the time, comparing the PS3 at the time with the 360 the 360 was significantly cheaper. The PS3 was expenisve all because of the blue-ray player last time I checked, in my opinion the blue-ray thing is dumb most movies nowadays look perfectly fine they way they are, do we really need to upgrade the picture quality of something that's already perfect? Doesn't make much sense in my case.
Anyway I suppose their corporate moves can be looked at as 'dumb tactics' rather than greed.

On a few models? lol from what I understand everyone I know could play them but didn't care. Also yes most movies look much better with HD quality. PS3 was not expensive because of just the blu-ray player. Which dropped in price once the "movie player wars." was in its favor after porn popped up first on the device. It was also the inclusions of many new types of hardware like trying to ensure the ps3 could play ps1 and ps2 games with its cell processor infrastructure. Eventually they just accepted the much larger losses as they tried to remove what they could to ensure the main ps3 unit could play ps3 games and support blu ray, wifi, etc. Every console sells as a loss after all. They try to make up for it through game sales, dlc, etc. Improving the quality of everything is a good thing. Idk if you have issues with HD but as far as I can see it has hugely improved everything we have today.
More good news: hackers and fans alike are working to bring GameCube compatibility to Wii U, Wii Mini, and newer Wii systems. Currently, games will run, but input is expected from GameCube ports which aren't available on those systems. The main programmer has reportedly made progress in using a tethered PS3 controller as a GameCube controller. I'm waiting for full Bluetooth and USB controller support.
I have my doubts there going to go as far as the full cost of the game, but then again, I didn't think any of the three where going to take it this far, so I'm not realy that good of a sorce.
I'll still get it, mostly because I tend to eventualy get all the gaming hardware that comes along, but I'm likly going to get it for the games I can't get elsewhere, and if that is like the 360, there's only a few. Such a shame too as with the 360, it was my go to system for multiplatform games, but now I'd have to say it's likly going to be the PS4 for the next gen as long as they don't look at this as an oppertunity to repeat this bad idea.

What's not to love about a game system that forces you to keep a microphone and camera plugged in at all times? It's not like it's going to periodically scan the living room for warm bodies and lock you out of watching a movie if there are too many people there. That would just be evil!
I have made many comments about the system already. We will see how far the bad press and reaction will shape consumer good will before the release of the system. Compromises are still very much possible. I admit this being very much on the side of Playstation. Companies would love to get more money out of us like this but they also know the importance of ensuring your consumer base is happy with the product itself. We will see how it all balances out. For now I await E3 to see if the system holds up at all for exclusives anyone would care about.
People are wondering if this will be the end of home game consoles. (sigh) It's starting to look that way.
Nintendo might hold on for a while, since it's frugal enough and smart enough to survive for the immediate future. However, both Microsoft and Sony have thrown billions of dollars into a hole they will never get back. The two companies spent EIGHT BILLION dollars in total on their respective playthings (http://www.vg247.com/2013/01/07/xbox-360-and-ps3-losses-total-8-billion-ex-sony-employee-paints-grim-future/), hoping to cash in on a long return, but that gamble hasn't panned out for them, nor could it.
Now I recognize the importance of spending capital to make a long-term profit, but eight billion dollars is absolute madness, and there's no way in hell you can ever get a return on that investment. The console wars have turned into an arms race fought with money, an ego contest to determine who's the bigger man, and it has absolutely nothing to do with customer satisfaction or profitability. If there's going to be a Playstation and Xbox after the next ones, the companies making them will need to get a grip and dial back their grandiose expectations to reasonable levels.

It'll bite them in the ass, one way or another, people will get fed up, loyal customers will start pirating, other systumes will be left behind for the one that is the least fucked up, people will look back at the games they had never touch, that are now an extremely affordable 20 dollars and start trying new things, Hell I have a 360 and a 3DS, and rather than thinking of an amazing new set of games, I'm thinking "Well, the PS3 is going to get real cheap soon" Ah Well, I'm getting my Animal Crossing soon, and my Pokemon later this year, I am more than content.
I must say I am a sony gamer myself to the core and this even pisses me off because how greedy can Microsoft be to really do something like that, especially if at the price of a new game that would be ok like lets say 59.99 per used game and just really I think that this might be sonys turn and heck I think this might be a good chance for netendo to make a resurgence into the market and overtake them.
It seems that MS have not just "backtracked hard" on the reports that a fee would be payable for 2nd use of games, they have outright denied it.
