You've almost got the proper Limerick Meter here. It's only a little bit off in the second line, as it's a syllable too short.
My suggestion would be to change: "whose flying skills were a riot" to something like: "whose flying skills were quite a riot".
That one extra syllable would make your piece fit the meter perfectly.

The other two also need slight adjustments in the number of syllables so that they can better fit Limerick Meter.
My best suggestion to you is that you take a look at the Wikipedia entries on Limericks, as it actually has a pretty decent run-down on the style. While you're at it, you might also want to look into trying some Clerihews, as that's another simple form that's good for working on your basic building block styles for poetry.
