When traveling down the road the king came across a beaten and naked woman laying half in a bush. He ordered the carriage to stop and he and his Mage rushed to the side of the obviously injured woman. The king didn't realize just how bad her predicament was until he found that her body was headless. He was enraged and upset, but his Mage sensed a spark of life still in her, instructing the king and the guards to go in search of her head immediately. They found it further up the road, eyes closed, mouth open in an endless scream.
The Mage worked as quickly as he could, but the head would not reattach without something to hold it in place. The king removed his wrist bracelet, giving it to the Mage without a seconds hesitation. Into the evening he worked, worrying all the while that the tiny thread that held the spirit to the body would sever at any second. Then it happened. The woman opened her eyes and smiled a dazzling smile.
The king took her back to the palace, thanking the heavens he had spotted this beautiful, spirited female by the side of the road. She had no name that she remembered as she had been one of the many villagers taken from their villages illegally as a slave. She remembered she had caused too much trouble and the traders and they had decided the trouble she caused outweighed her monetary worth. The king named her Millane because they were on the Mill Lane when they found her.
Now she is the greatest friend of the Princess, Keena, and is the trusted adviser of the king and heads the hunting down of slave traders.
If she un-bolts her neck she can remove her head for short periods of time- up to three hours- as a party trick or if she wants to see what she looks like from the back, thanks to the magic the Mage had used to bring her back.
