Always been my favorite type of protagonist. Trouble is, the scarcity isn't just in the requirement that they have an intelligent writer. They also have to be found and funded by people smart enough to recognize and appreciate intelligence. If that were common, there'd be no market for Fox "News".

Or MSNBC, NBC, or the like either.

Thankfully, the Daily Show would remain. ^_^

I'm liking Herman a lot here. He's legitimately suspicious of his employer and forward thinking enough to ask himself if the task at hand suits his own goals.

"News Flash: The leaders of the S.S.S. died in what the police calls an accident during building an explosive device. The investigating officers have found plans for an attack on <insert target here>"

Just an example of an extreme case, but it would wrap everything up. Leave no one that could pick up were the group was and discredit them enough, so they can't make martyrs of them. It may even destroy the group as it is.

As for intelligence, the Prez might be smarter, but Herman is a survivor. Think about it, the Prez managed to become president, Herman managed to force the whole Goverment (which was after him) to close down the meat camps. In a contest between the two Herman might not win, but he would definitly survive.
