Which lens is it exactly? I've been looking for a decen and affordable fisheye or ultra wide for some time now.

It's a Rokinon 8mm fisheye. It's around $250 bucks but it is so worth it :3

Ah yeah I have seen that one before. Although here in Germany they are not called Rokinon, instead they brand their products as "Walimex" here^^
But I have seen that one before and I have heard lots of good things about it. I am not sure about getting a fisheye though... I just want something really wide and not that bulging 180° view :T

Oh it isn't really too wide :P if you want a more normal wide angle lens, I would go for something around a 14mm. Doesn't distort it as much.

Yeah, I usually use my 35mm f1.8 but if I need something wider I use the kit lens. I have a Nikon but my kit lens is basically the same as yours. 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 VR.
The problem with my kit lens is that it's resolution is a hair too low for the sensor of my camera :P At f5.6 everything is pretty sharp but at wider apertures things are getting just a little bit soft.
But my main issue is that it's been a little tight already every now and then. On an APS-C sensor like on our cameras it does have an effective focal length of 27-82.5mm afterall. And 27 is awfully close to 35mm which is regarded as the end of what people consider to be wide angle...
