Monte Cristo Hike

I did this sketchbook piece for Albert Temple (Gene Catlow) at Anthrocon in 1999. Although its a big file (nearly 200k), the scan is a poor one made from a xerox. I've tweaked it just now in Photoshop, but not much more can be done about the quality.
The drawing (pencil) shows Tangel' at a place in the Pacific Northwest's Cascade mountains, above an abandoned mining town called Monte Cristo. The view is more or less as I remember it from being there. The mine shaft was near the peak of the mountain to the right, and the ghost town below a couple of hundred feet in altitude, to the left.

Greyscale for pencils is a must. Even with INK I usually scan in greyscale, because b/w will often produce a brittle looking image, with fine lines dropping out.
