This hat has a rather amusing history.....
I crocheted myself a giant beret out of this same forest green yarn. My son, with his cheeky sense of humor, insisted on taking my hat, any chance he got, and wearing it. He would run around, with his hand over my hat so I couldn't take it back. I had made my son may hats prior, which he always refused to wear!
Then, trying to use the last of the sage and forest green yarns, I made a granny square for my ugly afghan (imagine an afghan containing some of every color and material I can get my hands on). After finishing this afghan square, I stepped out of the apartment for a moment. I came back to find my son wearing the granny square on his head. He wore it all day, taking it back every time I put it away. I had just enough of the two greens to make this hat.
Sure enough, as soon as I finished a hat for Kaleb, he lost interest in each of the green creations. The one time he's ever willingly handled it? After I photographed it for this ad, he picked it up off my bed and smelled it... but that's another story altogether...
