My 'sweeps month' (May, 2013) continues with yet another 'photo-op', which (like my last one) was also taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; but this time, it was taken in October of 1993 at "Comic Fest '93" - a major comic book convention.
In some of the past 'photo-ops' I'd posted, I was usually seen posing with various artists in attendance at "Comic Fest '93" (e.g. Bill Fitts, Ken Mitchroney]/b], et al). But this was one of the few 'photo-ops' I'd taken of other artists, without me in the picture...
Philadelphia native [b]Reggie Byers, was one of the few anthroartists who specialized in 'family-friendly' comic fare. I became acquainted with him and his talents, when I saw the first two issues of his independent comic book title "Jam Quacky, the Hip-Hop Duck". But his skills weren't limited to drawing comic fare (and drawing anthropomorphic characters). He also use airbrushing to create one-of-a-kind posters and T-shirts.
(At the time I'd met him, he was busy airbrushing a T-shirt, depicting the character 'Storm' from the popular "X-Men" comic book.)
I'd decided to take two photographs of him. This first one shows Reggie (left), hard at work on his airbrushing project, while samples of his other work (right) are being displayed. Despite his tight schedule, he was able to find the time to draw 'Jam Quacky' in my 'big black sketch book' - which you can still see at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6543606/
I'll be posting a second 'photo-op' of Reggie Byers shortly, so watch for it...
Meanwhile, you can view examples of his 'family-friendly' art - with both human and 'funny animal' characters - in his own special website ("The Art of Reginald Byers") by going to http://reginaldbyers.com/
