Here I was having some fun with candy making!
Hard candy is both simple and yet very easy to mess up.
I made use of some gemshaped molds here for fun in the front, and did some assorted doodads and the like in the back.
Sugar is cooked to 320 degrees with water. Around 280 I add in coloring and banana extract. I pour into molds or onto silpats or parchment paper.
Toss with powdered sugar afterwards to help prevent sticking.

Two cups of sugar to a half cup of water. You'll need to stir it often until it fully melts in there (And it takes a bit, but eventually will.) Once it is all dissolved you can cover it, let condensation drip down around the sides to catch any sugar crystals and then remove the top (Preferably BEFORE it bubbles so much it pushes the top off and creates black sugary glass on your stove... I've ummm, done that one before! Heh.)
Continue to let cook until your desired temperature for what you are working with.

Not sure! There is a possibility of a trip to Ohio that I might arrange with a bit of a side trip in August, but I'm not sure if that would happen, and it would be with my mate tagging along, if that would be okay?
Finding time and allocating vacation time is often a little tricky, alas, but I want to get up there and visit. :)
