Everyone loves Mario; even the furry fandom loves Mario! He has many friends, but his favourite two are

This year's theme for FE was "Furries in Uniform," essentially honoring those that serve the community. Plumbers serve the community, too; they just don't often have uniforms. But Mario has a uniform, so that counts!
