It was a privilege to have known you.
Heartfelt thanks to all who have responded. It is good to know that when a friend dies, there are other friends out there to help ease one back into life.
Cupra was a singularly good friend. Very easy-going for a feline. Willing to purr at the slightest touch. He came to me as most of my cats have. Literally 'knocking' at my front door and asking to live with me. In his case, with the added 'incentive' of having a badly injured leg. <grin> It seems that prior to getting him 'fixed' he did like to have arguments with other male cats. Being small, he usually got the bad end of the argument. However, he was mostly a mellow fellow, a good ankle-shiner, and calm as the day was long. The vets even commented on his stoic nature the few times he saw them for his shots and other things.
I don't think I can replace him, but the poster in the vet's office on this last visit showed a 5 year old male tabby up for adoption with an uncommon resemblance to Cupra.
I may need to check him out. Especially since his name appears to be 'Clarence'. Clarence? Hmmm. May need to do something about that.

I am deeply sorry for your loss, Cirrel. As one who has gone through this very experience several times in my life, I know it is never easy to part ways with a beloved pet. Thank you for your beautiful dedication. I hope that you will find comfort and peace during this difficult time.
I hope you'll forgive the Christian reference, but I felt the following hymn was appropriate:
Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord.
Thou sendest blessings from above
Through words and deeds of those who love.
When such a friend from us departs
We hold forever in our hearts
A sweet and hallowed memory,
Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.
(Karen Lynn Davidson, Christian Hymn)

I know that feeling all to well Cirrel. Had a cat of my own that I felt as deeply close to. Unfortunately he ran off one day when my former step mother married my father and started making drastic changes. one of which involved getting rid of my cat. I never knew what happened to him, but I used to see him roaming the open field a long time back. He'd have died of old age by now. I've had that cat since childhood.
My deepest sympathies for your loss.
My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Having had cats live to respectable ages, that 'found their way to us', I can understand and know how hard the loss of a feline friend is.
22 is a remarkable age and I can tell that he lived it to the fullest that a feline friend could. I am sorry for your loss, and offer my condolences.
What a beautiful and lovely tribute.

You have my most heartfelt condolences. I know how close you are to your pets, and I am sorry to hear this. However, he lived to a very respectable age for a cat, and I have no doubt...he had a supercool catty life with you. You'll see him again one day, Cirrel...and he'll still purr at the slightest touch of your hand.
